Program Summary:

Centreville Bank has been a cornerstone of financial strength and stability in central Rhode Island for nearly 200 years. As a mutual bank, Centreville is deeply committed to corporate social responsibility. In 2006, the Centreville Bank Charitable Foundation was established to provide grants to nonprofits that provide critical services to the communities served by the Bank. From 2013 - June 30, 2017, The Foundation granted approximately $1.5 million to 54 local nonprofits. More than half of that giving was directed to organizations serving the town of West Warwick, RI, home of the bank’s headquarters. Within West Warwick, the Bank is headquartered in Arctic Village, a once-thriving hamlet that is striving to rebuild its economy. When the Arctic Playhouse was established to provide the community with affordable access to the performing arts, the Foundation provided a $175,000 grant to help renovate a blighted historic building into a state of the art theatre and leverage funding from Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. The Foundation also provided The Station Fire Memorial Foundation with $150,000 to help jump-start $2 million in fundraising for a permanent memorial to the 100 people who died in a West Warwick nightclub fire. The Foundation has also granted $320,000 to Kent County Hospital, and more than $100,000 to West Warwick’s food pantries, low-income health clinics and social services providers.
