Program Name: Stamp Out Hunger

Program Summary:

Stamp Out Hunger was started by the Letter Carriers Association in 1993 and Community Bank, Hattiesburg became involved in 2017. The goal of Stamp Out Hunger is to provide an easy and efficient way for residents to donate canned goods and other nonperishable foods to the local food pantries including Christian Services, Salvation Army, Petal Children's Task Force and Edwards Street Fellowship Center. This year, the event was held on Saturday, May 13. Community Bank provided brown paper bags to the mail carriers, who distributed them throughout the week on their normal mail route. The bags gave instructions to load them and leave them by the mailbox on Saturday for pick up. Over 78,000 pounds of food donations were collected by the mail carriers and Community Bank staff members.
