Dacotah Bank’s program promotes fraud awareness and prevention through fraud seminars, educational materials and customer-focused technologies. Fraud prevention seminars are held to share knowledge and experiences encountered over the years. Dacotah Bank’s goal is to help educate older Americans and their family to create awareness of scams, signs of elder abuse, and the importance of POA specifications in POA documents. Educational materials are shared with attendees, which include step-by-step guide to restoring stolen identity, red flags and contact information for Medicare, SSA and the three major credit bureaus. Dacotah Bank employees play a critical role in the program and are committed to assisting with the identification and prevention of financial crimes. Dacotah Bank employees are provided with ongoing education, and play a large role in interacting with customers. Due to successful training and varying experiences with customers, employees are more alert to signs of fraud and share their knowledge with customers to aid in fraud prevention. Dacotah Bank recognizes employees who identify fraud and prevent customer loss by rewarding employees with a gift, photo and the fraud prevention story displayed on Dacotah Bank’s internal website. Dacotah Bank strives to have the best technology so customers are in control of their accounts with the use of real-time alerts, self-established parameters utilizing geo-location and the ability to turn debit cards on and off.
